BLACK HISTORY MONTH/WHO AM I?

On June 3 1906 she was born. SHE was born in the state of Missouri in the city of St. Louis. During the time of her raising she survived a time of pain. The pain of segregation and racism. Through all the trouble times she never stop dreaming of being a STAR. She started as a dancer on the street and later after being noticed for her talent she was recruited by the st. Louis Chorus vaudeville show where she was on stage performing live shows and entertaining the audiences at the age of fifteen. The time she stepped on stage she was the center of attention and her talent was obvious and she was determined to fulfill her dream a PERFORMER of color. Although many doubt because of troubled times that faced the community at the time. WHO AM I ?

She, the STAR, later got the chance to perform in France, where she knew she could perform and her color ethnicity was not an issue for most. So there she went to France to be exact Paris and there her life changed and many of her dreams became reality. She started as a dancer, a singer, and later an actress who was named Creole Goddess, Bronze Venus, and Black Pearl. WHO AM I ?

Can you name her yet, well I have a few facts listed below:

                  11. The Rainbow Tribe
She raised children of different ethnicity and religions to prove that all
                        people could still be brothers

I am sure by now we know who she is. She is JOSEPHINE BAKER, who was truly a strong, beautiful, talented, and smart woman of color. Beauty she was born with inside and out and today her legacy still lives on. At the age of thirteen she dropped out of school and lived on the street in the slums of St. Louis and dancing on the street led her to being the world's richest and famous African American woman of her time. Dreams Do Come True and Faith is the Key. She inspires all men that we can succeed if we try and believe even through the toughest times. We have to believe in ourselves and let destiny come our way and enjoy every minute of it. This is a tribute for Black History Month.
