THYROID FNA (FINE NEEDLE ASPIRATION)

Hello everyone I was thinking about my Thyroid FNA and so i thought i would share my experience and how i feel today.First of all if you know nothing about an FNA better known as a Fine Needle Aspiration it is when a radiologist insert a fine, thin needle into the Thyroid and aspirates cells or get samples of the cell or fluid to evaluate the nodule or mass for cancerous cells The good news is that 95% of all thyroid nodules are benign and need no additional medical things done but sometimes the nodule has to be removed from the body surrounding the thyroid.

Today I feel better but the last two days my throat was sore and swollen a little but that is normal.I do have a small bruise where the needle was injected into the thyroid but nothing huge or anything so that is great. I have to say that this procedure was a bit painful.I mean it had to be done but I felt pain for a few minutes. The pain felt like 20 bees stinging my throat lol Im for real. I have to say that the medical staff was so nice and comforting and really patient with me and I thank them all and I love the environment around I felt really safe and had great treatment.

I am happy to know what was going on with my body for the last three years.I have been really physically stressed with different symptoms i was experiencing and I now know whats been going on and Im relieved to know this is whats going on but yet i dont know if i will need treatment or if i will need medication at this time.I will find out later this week. I will keep you all updated and let you know the results.

  1. Thank you for sharing your experience! You can have 2 minimally invasive procedures to shrink it if it comes back benign: PEI ablation (if it cyst) and radiofrequency (microwave) ablation if it is solid.
I like the way you pronounced a word "goiter", but you may also call your thyroid Madam's apple:)
    Best wishes and many blessings!!
